Take a look at this site.. http://www.tweak3d.net/faq/ YOU SAY LATEST DRIVERS...maybe they are the prob.....but iŽll go for the directx8.0 problem.......is it still in beta ?

This is most likely a resource issue.
Use the Resource Meter to monitor your System Resources (It's in system tools). Try to keep it above 50% (90%+ after a fresh boot). Remove unnecesary programs from you startup profile by unchecking them in msconfig (run msconfig)
If necessary, try lowering your color depth to 16bit if higher than that

DirectX- I had 7 then 7a and then 8. Same problem with them all.
Video drivers- updated them three times, and still the same problem. Found a never driver (.0631 versus my 4.12.01.0626) on www.tweak3d.net, so I'll try that.
Startup- Only the essential Windows program are here, besides MS Office. Resources are usually around 90% free after startup.
Color has been at High Color (16 bit).
