Help! Evertime I shut down my system, after being on the internet, I get Fatal Exception OE at 0167:BFF8CC04 I am running a new machine, win98, internet explorer 5.0 upgrade, soundblaster AW64 Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Something running in the background is using a memory address needed by an Internet program. Given that this happens after you have been on the Internet, my guess is that RunDLL.exe or RunDLL32.exe is being effected. Ctr+alt+del and end task one at a time, (except Explorer and Systray) before you shut down after an Internet session. You may be able to find the culprit that way. If you find it, uninstall it from ADD/REMOVE programs, reboot and reinstall it. This will give Windows the opportunity to assign the memory correctly. There may be an error in the programs code or Windows might get stubborn on you, but, it's worth a try.

Try reinstalling IE5.0

I found a USB Olympus card reader driver that would not release. Unplugging the reader 30 seconds before re-starting cured the problem. I have another PC doing the same thing but haven't found a fix yet.
