Ihave a fatal exception error OE 0167:BFF8CC04 when i try to shut down or restart Win 98. This has just happened and i have had my system for two months. The only thing that i might have possibly done is installing a driver for an ATI videocard and the driver for an HP5P scanner. However those have been deleted and my problem still persists. Any help would be truly appreciated
Thank you

Whenever you install a new driver in Win98 it makes changes in the registry. I would go into control panel and click add new hardware and pick the original hardware from a list and reinstall the old drivers first for the video card. I would pick the video card over the scanner if it is a new card. Video cards and their drivers are usuall the cause for computers crashing like that. I have run programs that were supposed to install video drivers but they overwrote some vxd files causing my computer to not boot. Do not run any of these files. Whenever you decide to upgrade a computer only change one thing at a time. It will make troubleshooting easier.

Hi--
I've got a similar message--OE at: 015F: BFF8CC04
I've continued to get the same error message, sometimes more than once a day-- always at shutdown-- someone at my ISP said Microsoft had a patch for it called download something. I haven't been able to find any reference to it... HELP!!!

I am getting the same error that Bill above is getting. Does anyone know how to correct the problem?
Please Help!!

Me too! Same deal. I get the error after an installation is complete and clicking on yes to reboot. Anyone know the fix?

I keep getting fatal exception 0e at: 015F:BFF8CC04 only at shutdown of Windows 98 1st edition after installing a HP cd-writer 8230E. If I disconnect the USB port from my DELL Dimension V400 Windows shuts down fine. If I remove the HP drivers it shuts down fine, of course I can't use my CD Burner. Does anybody know of a fix for this ?. It's driving me crazy.
Thanks
