Comment:

I have formatted my harddrive and reinstalled win95 and am recieving constant fatal exception errors. The majority are Fatal Exception error OE at 0028:C026D54C in VxD VWIN32(04) + 003C18. Any help regarding these messages would be very much appreciated.

Fatal exception error in windows means that
you have corrupt files in your operating system. Operating Error or OE must be corrected with a proper reloading of windows.
There is a proper procedure to install windows and if you mess it up you will get
errors. If your not sure on how it is done
E-mail me and I will give you the procedure.
I have responded to this problem numerous times because when setting up a machine proper command line sequence is not followed.
Format C: and winging the rest will give you nothing but headaches.

I am getting various fatal oe errors at least every week and am going insane!! Everytime I format my C drive and reinstall win95 I get to use it for up to a week before a driver goes missing or my registry has errors and I get the BLUE SCREEN!
Usually when I get the message it won't restart with ctrl+alt+del and when I turn it off and restart it I get the blue screen again before windows finishes loading.
I have gotten the following messages:
FATAL EXCEPTION OE HAS OCCURRED AT 0028:C1042B8D IN VXD WSOCK(01)+00000C91. CURRENT APPLICATION WILL TERMINATED.

FATAL EXCEPTION OE OCCURRED AT 014F:BFF9A3C0......

FATAL EXCEPTION OE OCCURRED AT 0028:C026C6B5 IN VXD VWIN32(04)+00002891

The last two errors occurred when I was trying to scan my hard drive with Norton Anti-Virus 5.0

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
THANK YOU!!

This may be caused because you have a USB port and USB support has not been installed. You can search for VWIN32.VXD on your hard drive to verify this. If it is not there, then you must install it. If it is there it may be corrupted and reinstalling it may fix the error. In either case do the following.
Look for a file called USBSUPP.exe on your windows CD and install it to fix the error.

Good luck!!!

I recently got a digital camera and also has a USB port installed on my computer. I am operating in Win98. I have had no luck trying to copy the pictures from the camera to my PC it continues to tell me that the connections are not working. Everything is plugged in and I've tried all the basic stuff including phoning the Toshiba Help Line. They think the driver is not installed properly, however, there are no errors showing. When I boot up the computer and then turn the camera on I get the message Fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028:FF011B66 in VxD USBHUB(05). Any idea?
Thanks

I am getting the same symptoms that Elynn Boss describes. However, I was able to print after installing Quicken Deluxe 2000; the problems began after I downloade DiscoverCard transactions to Quicken. I uninstalled a virus software also. I am beside myself what sequence of events have caused my problems.

I have a new version Window98. Upon shutdown
I get an error message more often then not.
"A fatal exception OE has occurred at 0028.BF88112. The current application will be terminated. Press Ctrl alt del again to restart"

This does not work, and I end up frozen in a blue screen until I just shut down. I would reinstall the Windows98 that came with my Gateway package, but that did not seem to help the other people on this site.

Can someone out there help me! Hellooo!
Please someone answer me! ASAP

Now and then when I shutdown my new Gateway system, I've had a frozen screen with the same "fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:BF88112" notice. Gateway's tech support person said it was a problem with Windows 98 Second Edition. He had me press F1 at startup and change the (BIOS?) hard drive setting from "disable" to "enable." Suggest you have one of the tech support people walk you through it. I haven't shutdown enough times yet to know whether it's really fixed, but so far so good.

We bought a new Gateway in January and have had identical error messages (OE 0028:BF...). At one point the Gateway tech. had me use the Restoration disk because "This is a Microsoft problem and they let us put their patch on our disk." It did absolutely NOTHING. 50% of the time on shut-down the error message occurs, then ScanDisk runs on startup. A patch disk sent from Microsoft on order from their Web site was also useless: "You have a newer version of Windows 98...." At least I feel better knowing that others with new Gateways have the identical problems.
Since this seems to be a pretty common problem and both Gateway and Microsoft seem to be sharing blame but no solutions for this problem, anybody who REALLY knows how to fix this from either of those companies want to comment?

Do not overlook mobo configuration. A wrong jumper setting will allow you to load windows and windows will go through the motions of setting up but will provide numerous bsod(blue screens of death). Core voltage to cpu was incorrect. Proper setting in this instance cured the blues. Happy hunting!!

I put in a Pentium III 550 MHz chip with Intel SE440BX-2 Motherboard and 2-64M PC100 SDRAM chips. I also have 2-Maxtor Diamond Max 27G HDD, Sound Blaster Live Platinum card with Drive Bay, nVidia TNT2 TM64 32 Meg Video Card, 100 Meg parallel port zip drive, LS-120 parallel port drive, Umax scanner, Logitech vc camera, FPS 2000 digital speakers, Sidewinder Precision Pro Force Feedback joystick-the works (and a hefty credit card bill). After upgrade from Petium II 233, VxD BSOD every 15 seconds if I was lucky. Tried, the USB patches. Tried latest BIOS for each piece of hardware. Downloaded every update of software (between system crashes). Read every FAQ from the experts, tried every fix that every "expert" said, tried every fix that every victim tried, nothing. Uninstalled sound card: ??? Heard Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing "Haleluah". It wasn't my memory (bought two 128M PC100 chips). It wasn't formatting the drive again (12 times in Win 95), (3 times in Win 98). It wasn't upgrading to Win98 (adios $129.00 more to Uncle Bill). It wasn't installing each VxD off of my hard drive 1 at a time and replacing portions of my *.ini files with the new references. I killed the video star and could use my PC. Of course my multimedia world is dead and Creative Labs' fix of new drivers 11/99 only made the matters worse since it was to fix PIII 600 MHz chips and above. I'm in limbo still trying to get the sound to work. Until then, Computing.Net had more solutions then MCSD. Of course finding the right fix is only slightly easier then filling out one of those rebate coupons before it expires and actually cashing the check. Good luck.

You people with the OE at 0028:BFF88112 ... It's not an issue with your Gateway, other people have the same problem. It's an issue with 98SE and Norton Antivirus. You can check the FAQs on Gateway's website, it has many steps to try to fix the problem, however, all those steps are directly from Symantec's (maker of NAV) Knowledge base for windows shutdown issues with Win98SE. If those steps don't work, uninstall NAV and use a different AV software.

I have had the VXD error problem and it usually occurs after loading a windows compatable program, or so I thought,it maybe a coincedence but I changed my ram thinking the VMM that is associated with the message was pointing toward ram/memory.
As soon as I turned the computer on I noticed the difference.
It No messages so far, the ram 2x 64 meg were purchasewd at different periods , I assume they were the same parity.
I found this group and thought I might pass on the news.

Responding to Rogelio Saunders,
You may be able to rule out Norton Utilities 2000. I also get the 0028:C00301F9 (as well as 0028:C0031C7A) in VxD message, and I don't have any Norton products installed. In fact, I dumped my MacAfee Antivirus and have cured quite a few lock-ups.
Recently I installed an HP scanner and some PhotoSuite software, and that's when I noticed an increase in BSOD. Still troubleshooting this problem, but any help would be appreciated. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one out there!

I have windows 98 and am using IE5. Recently when I use IE 5 I get this fatal exception at 0028:C001545A and 0246:015F47FB. I was only surfing the net. How do I solve this problem?
