Recently we bought a new hard drive because of the virus on another hard drive. We have had nothing but problems with excess Fatal Exceptions, which was not that bad with a different hard drive. We cannot resolve this problem from MS KB. The main problem is this error; 0028:C02A16DA in VXD VWIN32 (05)+00002062 while in Windows. We can be doing anything and all of a sudden it crashes. Other known error 0028:C163BE69 in VXD FW (01)+0000A6D9. This error occurred when I logged off my User screen to switch to another user, 0028:C1667996 in VXD FW (01)+00002E06 We bought a new 256 Meg Ram and upgraded it from 128 Meg. Still have the same problem. (That was not why we bought it. It was a bargain at this time of year!) I have spent numerous of unproductive time trying to resolve this by searching through MS KB and other means of information. I have tried troubleshooting with no luck. Scan disk checked ok. Also could someone specify what address 0028 is mainly for? Thanks in advance for any help. OS: Win 98 256 Meg Ram 30GB HD ATI 3D Rage Pro CDRW Power supply, CPU and computer fans running ok. McAfee Utilities 4.0 Plenty of space left. Defragged / Scandisk all checked ok. Product Updates from MSN current. Better send this before it crashes again.

you can't really say what that address is, since it's probably different for different PCs, and/or programs. what exactly did the virus do to cause you to need a new hard drive? which virus was it? have you checked your BIOS settings for drives and memory? you could try disabling external cache, then both external and internal cache if the options are in your BIOS. check the IDE cable. close all background programs and then do CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the Task Manager and 'End Task' on everything in the list except Explorer and Systray. then, use the PC for a bit to see what happens...
