Id like to ask about installing a new fax modem into a slot which the old modem was hit by lightening. I entered the new software, loaded the new board, and rebooted,,,, the win95 would not boot up... I get a fatal exception error at 0028:C008514C in VXD VTG(01) + 00032B1C Have had the following advice which hasnt worked: 1 video needs to be removed from the 'my computer-properties-details and let windows find it.... NOT 2 audio card needs to be removed, software needs to be removed, and modem software and hardware removed.... reinistall audio software, then audio card, reboot. reinstall modem software, then modem then reboot... NOT, cause i cant get back into Windows without being in SAFE mode. 3 reload windows.... id love to, but cant get the system to recognize that its got a cd drive in dos, or in windows once the driver is loaded thru dos as instructed on the diskette.\ IM at a loss....... Please if anyone has more info, i could really use it.. Bewildered on the Blue Screen

You've had a long nitemare....so here's my simple solution; Return that crap fax modem where u bought it, explain to 'em in your elaborate technical detail why it doesn't work (so they can't argue) and ask if u can exchange for an EXTERNAL modem. I bought a US ROBOTICS EXTERNAL MODEM 56k, hooked it up without having to open my computer and it worked the very first time!!
