This error is can be caused by bad ram, internal or external cash.

First Try this:
1. Move your ram chips around and see if the error changes. If so, replace your ram.

If that didn't make a difference then try.
1. Turning External Cashe off in the Bios. If resolved, replace your external cache chip(s).

If that didn't make a difference then try.
1. Turning Internal Cashe off in the Bios. If you don't have this opption then replace the CPU.

This problem can be caused by the type of ram, CPU and motherboard combonation, bad cache,or a bad CPU. I had the hardest time resolving this issue, so I finally replaced the mother board and CPU and it resolved my problem.

I too have seen this problem on my PII-300, 96Mb and 4Gb HDD. Its only started the last 2 weeks, and it appears to happen for no real reason except sometimes when the PC is busy with disk access. (ie. Copying files from a ZIP disk, or busy with a large app like photoshop, writing to disk...)

I've seen the Registry report it was corrupted twice, and I've had a friend mention that he's seen some info about the Registry corruption causing 0E exceptions as well...

The interesting thing I've started noting lately is that when defragging my drive, as soon as I hit any blocks that 'should be at the end of the drive' (Those dark green ones - I suspect these are something to do with the Cache?), then they are both heavily fragmented (as in really bad 1 block at a time defragging! 1% can take up to 20 minutes to defrag!) and in most cases its during this part of the defrag that the Exception error in Vcache appears to happen.

The drive always seems to be having the same long-defrag times, even if I try defragging only a day later... This is suspicious...

I reboot, defrag and again at about the same point, the Exception 0E kicks in...

Everytime I've had the VCACHE error, it appears to be the same address, I've scandisked with the surface tests, and even gone and virus scanned the system. It just seems that something may have screwed some files or the disk up.

I have yet to rebuild the PC (I've got a pile of data that needs backing up - So far I've backed up 300mb - That's about halfway!)but if anyone has any *other* advice why this could be happening (apart from having to replace hardware - preferably not!) then I'd be happy to find out!

I'll let you know the outcome of my disk rebuild!

There also could be a corrupt file, maybe in your trash bin. Try deleting some messages that you don't read or don't want. If netscape gets hung, it is that file. If you can't delete it, drop me a line and i will give further instructions.

My problem with Vcache happens as I'm booting up. It doesen't even go into windows. It just says there's a problem with the Vcache file and I have to restart the computer every time. I wonder if it has anything to do with my monitor begining to flicker and go wild. Hmmmmm..... Thanks.

HI!
I´ve got the same problem!
vache-error in address:
0028:c004D776
error in vdx vcache(01) + 0000019A
Most time when I´m booting!
Interesting:
When I have deleted files out of the
"Papierkorb" (recycled) , it is not shown
the real facts in the recycled dir!
And after deleting and then booting
my PC crashes serveral times!
And then after 4 boots, I can go on!
Help, it sucks!

I get the error (at 0028:c0034a4a) only when writing a CD. I can do anything else I want for hours, but after about 20 minutes writing a CD, blamo. I don't even have to be writing the CD, I can sometimes just be in the CD writing program.... This just started within the past 3 weeks. Computer's been working fine since January.

I get this error message when downloading anything "A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:2A353A in VXD VWIN32(05)+ 00002062. The current appl. will be terminated. Press... " and it is locked up. I have to shut the power off and restart. Is this a problem with IE 5 or Windows in general. Would it help to unistall IE 5 and reinstall?

I've got a similar problem that started when I upgraded my CPU to a 133 from a 75. The machine runs fine for an hour then all heck breaks loose. I've had to break down and consider a new computer, but I figure the root problem is that the parts aren't working well together at the higher speed of the CPU and motherboard. Heat seems to be a consideration because reboots rarely help and it works best first thing in the morning after a long rest.
But I've had another weird symptom too. Has anyone seen the fonts on screen and in print turning into uniform rectangular characters?
I've reinstalled Windows and taken out my secondary hard drive too. No luck.

I have received the same error. It is on a PC only 3 months old. My engineer first started getting UNHANDLED ACCESS ERRORS in his CADD program. We downloaded updated video drivers. Then the VXD VCACHE(01) error started. I formatted the hard drive and tried to reload. Would not get passed Office 2000. Replaced Motherboard and CPU and now I can not get passed Windows 98.

Well... My machine works just great doing just about everything until I load QUICKBOOKS and then my VXD hell starts. Even after I go and deinstall the app it's already too late. After a day or so the machine repeatedly fails until its' nothing more than heap of s#$t that has to be rebooted every 5 min. This will be the forth time I've had to reinstall win98 from scratch to cure. It's like amputating your head because you get a pimple!

I get the VXD VCACHE error when I try to burn a CD, or even have the software program (Win on CD) open. I have ruined so many CDRs because of this.

The system:
800 MHZ Athlon
Mitisumi CD-R
WIN 98
3 x 128 DIMM SDRAM
ASUS K7M MB

I reformatted my HD and reinstalled WIN 98. No Luck. The MB temperature stays at about 33 degrees F. so I don't think its a heating problem (3 case fans)
If I ever figure it out, I'll post how I fixed it. If you know how o fix it, please post

I fixed the problem, here's how...

I downloaded Norton system works form download.com. (30 day free trial)

I ran the Norton diagnostics test and found that I had a bad stick of memory (128mb DIMM)

I removed the bad stick, and the computer worked fine.

Hope it helps.

I had the same problem and followed the advice on here. Using a good pc downloaded a small program from download.cnet.com called DocMemory RAM Diagnostic Software. It created a boot disk which I stuck in the faulty pc and it confirm the RAM was faulty. Replace RAM and no more blue screens.

I found that in most cases, bad memory causes this error. Pull each memory chip out to isolate the problem. When you find the bad chip throw it in the trash.
