My system locks or I receive a fatal exception on some websites. I recently installed a cable modem (via USB port). From what I've read here and there, it looks like I have to find/install "usbsupp.exe". However, each article referred to Win95. I'm running Win98se (CD destroyed (gotta love those kids)... cabfiles on harddrive though. Any idea which cabfile?). Computer: Gateway Pentium 200 w/MMX, 64MB RAM, Diamond Monster Fusion Video (16MB RAM), Ensoniq Sound. Thanks

Bad device driver. There is an area of ram memmory called the Vcache, which is controlled by vmm32.exe (virtual memory manager). Win 9x, instead of loading drivers directly from the harddisk, puts them into this vcache and loads them from there. This is a typical error message when the resources are either not available or appropriate for your device. You'll have to remove the device from device manager, reboot, and go through the driver installation process again. (Don't trust plug-and-play. If proper resources are not available, it'll just give the device what's left.) For greater details, see the article at www.techtony.com
