I get exactly the same with AMD Athlon XP 1800+ and 2400+ processors both with 256Mb 2100DDR so would be really interested in any clues!

Back again...

Ive done a full diagnostic on the PC using Micro2000's Micro-scope.
Its shown up an intermittant fault on the "clock timing chip" the error being "CTC registry failure"

there are no other hardware faults on the PC after a 16x diagnostic run and nothing shows any problems within windows.

The motherbd is on its way back, ill let you know the outcome.

Hello....theres news!..

I swapped out the memory for PC2700 333 256mb and the problem disappeared...put a new stick of PC2100 266 128mb in this caused the problem to return..... PC2100 266 256mb and the problem reduced.....so in the end ive slowed the memory bus speed to 200...(100x2 from 133x2) and the issue seems to be solved..
try slowing ur memory bus speed a little (in the BIOS or mobo Jumpers) to see if theres an effect for any of you and let me know....are your mobos Asus?....I have a hunch that the mobo's bus speed may be off causing the problem and slowing it/higher spec memory helps.....
