Try this Go to control panel add/remove programs highlight microsoft Internet Explorer and tools (thats one item) then click on remove. In the resulting box choose repair and follow prompts. It sound like you got a file meesed up in your mail program. This should fix it.

try this first,
when the computer is starting up, start tapping the F5 key, tap it once or twice a second, it should go to "safe mode", then go to start and run, and type MSCONFIG, and click on, go to the startup tab and uncheck everything but explorer, systray, scanregistry and taskmonitor, click ok and say yes to reboot
