I hope someone can help me with this. What does it mean when I download and setup some games, I get the message "Failed to initialize Direct Draw: RESULT_SURFACE_FAIL" Does anyone know what that means & what I can do to fix that? Thank You Very Much.

Install the latest version of DirectX from Microsoft. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/downloads/drx81.asp

Then go to start, run, end enter dxdiag and check through the tabs and see if ther is any yellow triangles there. Post back if you find the triangles. When you install games, be sure not to install a directx that is older than what you are running. Some files could be corrupted. Also since you have the newest directx running, uninstall the games, reboot, and install the games again. BTW What games are you trying to run?

Thank you Vtech, When starting Dxdiag. I got Error:Problem getting extra display info, result code= 0x8876024e(error code) Then on the display tab,clicked on Test Direct Draw. I got Direct Draw test results:Failure at step 9 (Creating Primary Surface) HRESULT=0X8876024e(error code) Then I clicked on the Network tab. I got A yellow triangle next to PLAY ON HEAT. I also did what you said about uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling.still didn't work. Thanks again vtech for taking the time. Iam open to any other suggestions you have.
