Comment: Ok heres what happend little brother deletes some of the temp files from c:\windows\temp 2. Computer wont start (it begins to load windows but shows error in GDI.EXE and the power turns off) 3.I load the windows boot disk and try to re-install win98 but it says i have to parition a drive so i do it. 4 now when i start the computer it boots up until it loads the BIOS it says : Starting EZ-Bios, then press ctrl to boot from flopply, then it says starting EZ-Bios... then it freezes. What can i do???? i have two harddrives primary is a 6.4gig and i have a 20gig maxtor as the slave. what can i do without formating and losing all my stuff? thanks

Reply: (edit)find and reinstall GDI.EXE if you can access another drive that has OS on it take the drive off that showing the error. Deleting windows temp shouldnt effect the computer like that. He might of deleted something else maby your boot disk is corrupted somehow...

Reply: (edit)When you booted from a floppy to reinstall windows you probably didn't let the overlay install first. That's why you got the partition error message. The overlay is on the hard drive. Turn on the computer and leave the bootdisk out until the EZ option to boot from the floppy comes up. Then put the bootdisk in and choose 'boot from floppy'. Then you can try reinstalling windows over the existing version.
