I have an external CD-ROM drive with an FCC ID #:JONCDLC4X02. It's made by Spirit Technologies Inc. I just need to know where to plug the cord in at the computer. It's a parallel connection. The printer port? A SCSI card?

If it indeed does have a parallel connection and you do not have a second parallel port (LPT2) then, yes, you will have to plug it into LPT1. Unless it has a host connection (a feed through) on the connector so you can still add in your printer you will either have to buy one or buy a multi-I/O card and enable only the parallel port. This would give you LPT2. Unless you have all your system's IRQ's used up you should be able to add in a multi-I/O card with out difficulty.
