My explorer.exe creates illegal operations every time I boot up my computer. Anybody know where I can download another copy of explorer.exe ?? Let me know.
Thanks.

Can you boot in Safe-Mode.
Cleanup, scandisk and Defragment.
Try regclean.
What happen before this?
Did you install a new IE.
I doubt if changing the explore.exe will have a good effect.
It most likely something running at startup.
Or something running from the registry.
Or a bad install.

Have same error. Have a terrible thought that it may have been installing IE5 that caused the problem.

I have seen this problem many a times and the only way to fix this problem is to either uninstall internet explorer first or restarting to a dos prompt and deleting explorer.exe file in the windows directory first. then reinstall windows 95 or 98. In most cases this fixed the problem. make sure you get your product id code first. good luck

I have run windows 98 with IE5.0 for a long stable time now but then suddenly EXPLORER.exe caused an illegal pagefault in module Explorer.exe at 0177:00402541, I formatted my HD and reinstalled, It worked for a couple of days then it happened again.
It wouldnt start in safe-mode either. I formatted and installed again and it has lasted for a day now, Crossing my fingers.
The real ODD thing here is that i can't understand what I have done wrong . Why have all this all of a suddebn started happening, and is this 100% related to software so that i don't have to worrie bour hardware issues too?
Please anybody!
