Comment:

With increasing frequency I'm encountering frozen screen which, when Ctrl/Alt/Delete, shows Explorer Not Responding. Occasionally it will be another, such as Msnmgr, etc.
After End Task screen unfreezes and I can continue whatever I was doing, but various lower task bar icons have disappeared. Sometimes a bit later the freeze will reappear with a different site Not Responding.

Look to you genuises for cause/cure! Many

We are NOT geniuses, and I 'for one' am offended by that comment.

OK, standard questions, and if some one else comes by before I get back, they'll have something to work with;

Is this a brand name machine? (ie; Dell, IBM, Gateway, Comcrap, etc.) Not familiar with "MSN". If so, what is the make/model number. Desktop or Laptop?

Have you recently installed any new software?

Did this start after an existing programs update? (ie; Anti-Virus, Firewall, Spyware/Malware program, etc.)

Have you recently gone into the interior of the machine for any reason?

It's a good day when you learn something

There's a well worn registry fix that sometimes helps general problems and is harmless:

Shut down & restart in MS-DOS.

Type scanreg /fix (hit Return).

When it has finished rebuilding your registry type exit (hit Return) to restart Windows.

Appreciate 2 of the 3 responses although do not understand why I did not receive notices of any of them.
OK Ham 30, too bad you were offended; none was intended.
Don Perry: MSN = microsoft; am on Toshiba Portege CTe laptop; at my level of inexperience I wouldn't dare go "inside".
Derek W: Scanreg/fix seems good idea; will try it.
Cordially, RO
