Hi all,
I have a computer with Win95 that's getting the following error daily:
EXPLORER CAUSED A GENERAL PROTECTION FAULT IN MODULE USER.exe AT 0003:00005 f9a.

A common cause of GPFs in USER.exe is the presence of far too many Icons on the desktop. Another source is the presence of actual folders on the desktop, rather than shortcuts to folders. The amount of memory Windows 9x assigns the desktop is far more generous than it was in Win 3x, still it is rather limited. A couple of dozen Icons, a folder or two, and a 1 MB wallpaper will often lead to such GPFs.
Howdy, And GFPS are caused by more than one program trying to use the same space of memory, a common problem with good ole Win 3.x that I loved to hate and still do to this day, oh the days of DOS how much I still miss the BBSing at 1200 Baud, oh those where the days.........
Laters,
