Can someone help me? My computer at work really stinks. It freezes up all the time and whenever I'm on the internet researching I get this error:
Explorer:
This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
The details read as follows:

Stack dump:

Now, we have an outside company who fixes our computers and updates everything but they keep telling me there's nothing wrong with my computer. This can't be true since I get this message atleast 3 times a day. Now, my computer at home never does this so I know it's something wrong here. I'm hoping someone will be able to help based on this posting. If you can please help me I'll be so so grateful.
Thanks,
Karina

from the look of your system credentials (though they are little incomplete) it sounds like you have a case of old-computer-itis, and windows running rough.

being one of those pesky outside support company guys myself, I can sympathize.

what version of IE are you using?

oh, on a side note: I have found that neither external support personnel, nor the bosses of the company that hires them usually approve of users servicing their own workstations.

just an advisement so nobody at work gets mad at you.

Uninstall Hotbar from "Add/Remove Programs" in the Windows Control Panel. Look for an entry called "Hotbar" or "Web Tools by Hotbar. If you have either of them, remove them, it's adware.

hey KARINA,

RAINCHECK has the right idea, if messing with your computer is allowed at your workplace.

I will tell you what I tell all my users at my commercial accounts: DON'T DOWNLOAD ADD ON TOOLBARS. More often than not they screw up your browser and didn't do a thing to help your work-time productivity...I don't care how cute the little icons are.

Of course, sometimes you get nailed with them whether you wanted them or not.

good luck!

Okay I'm going to try it Raincheck. And thank you too AOSCLAY. You are right my computer is old... But my boss has a bigger illness. He's cheap as hell! Anyway I always do what I please with my computer. That is when I actually get it to run!

Thanks.

hey KARINA,

i've heard that story somewhere before...oh yeah: among the users at almost every account we service. they pretty much do whatever they please with their work pcs too. and then they call us because they broke it. :) not that i'm accusing you of such behavior. you had wisdom to ASK other people for advice first. if i could have just a few users like you at my accounts...life would be smoother.

I bet you've never told your tech guys this: "well it just popped up on my screen and told me i needed to download it...it wouldn't pop up if i didn't need it, right?. i'm sure it was from microsoft or something..."

good luck!
