An employee here at the office has recently encountered a problem with explorer. I actually started last week. I have been everywhere from microsoft to google trying to find a solution with out having to reinstall the OS. His problem is explorer.exe, when he opens up a browser and goes into his C: drive and goes to file, new, to create a new folder or file explorer crashes as soon as he highlights new. Explorer doesn't even show a submenu, as soon as the mouse goes over new it closes out with an error. I says Explorer.exe has caused an invalid page fault in module <uknown> at 0000:6d614e65.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Manny

Manny .. it ain't the worst. In our development shop, we have to do this about every 2 weeks or so. Just takes time. If you have the CD's Cab files and Setup on the HDD, then it runs a bunch quicker.

Internet Explorer is well integrated into the system so it is therefore possible for it to cause problems with Windows Explorer (as can many other things).
Just in case the situation is not clear:
explorer.exe is Windows Explorer
iexplore.exe is Internet Explorer
Have you tried the two most boring old standards (arguable the only "aspirins" for sick computers). They are both harmless:-
First.
Go to Control Panel/Add-Remove. Double click the entry Microsoft IE & Tools. Hopefully you will get a Repair option, which can often fix browsing problems.Second.
"Shut down" to MS-DOS and type scanreg /fix (hit Return key). This will rebuild your current registry. Can help if your registry has gone wonky, and often clears up miscellaneous problems. Type exit (Return key) to restart Windows.Derek

Try this patch, It may solve the problem.
