I am getting the same thing accessing certain websites where my systray clears out afterwards. I was able to fix it once with Microsofts advice to delete my password file *.pwl and let it rebuild but now its back again and that doesn't help anymore. Somebody please help! It is really annoying.

Sometimes (only sometimes) when I click the wheel of the Intellimouse on a Web page, I get this error.

Explorer caused an invalid page fault in module MSHTML.DLL at 0167:020944fa

Is it a problem with Explorer or the Intellimouse I wonder? I do not get the problem except when clicking the wheel (to lock, then scroll).

Could some of these other problems be mouse related I wonder?

Ok people with the CRS32.dll problem, I've solved mine and this is how i do it. First delete the files CRS32.dll and CRS.exe (can't remember the exact name for this one). To delete CRS32.dll, you have to do it in DOS mode, before windows starts. Then start up windows and launch 'regedit' and search for 'CRS'. Delete any keys related to the file.

For those of you using IE 5.5 also try reverting back to IE 5. Don't use IE 5.5, there are alot of complains about it.

Hope this helps!

Slash,
I went into the dos mode but it's been so long since I worked in dos I couldn't remember how to delete anything. I also couldn't find the crs32.dll file. Went back to regedit and found the CRS folder after looking everywhere. Got that deleted and went back to find the dll file. Finally it deleted. Now to see if that fixed the problem. I've learned a very good lesson. Even downloading from a known site doesn't mean you won't get something you don't really want. Thanks for the help.

I also had the CRS32.dll problem...you can run regedit from the start menu, just go click on the start menu, run, type in regedit and click OK. Next, on the toolbar, click on edit and then find...type in CRS to find the entries to delete. One other thing, you can do a "find" for CRS and you should find all entries including CRS32.dll, CRS.exe and your registry entry, just select all under edit then Files, delete and your problem should be solved. Hope this helps some people.

To think after all this time, people are experiencing the same problem. I myself is getting the same error and seems to be related to a VxD file, unfortunately it does not say which one.

This is real annoying. Whats worst is when an error as such is trapped, you need to to reboot since it will end up locking windows with an error like "Windows protection error". Good grief!

TO Microsoft: just trap the darn error and clean it out properly. Perhaps easier said than done, but for heavens sakes its a dumb problem to have it always reoccuring since the birth of Ghandi. Hint: have a look at the linux kernel .

I had the CRS32 error, there is a simpler way of removing the files just start up in save mode delete the files and then run Regclean from Micro$oft. If anyone finds out who made these files "CRS32.DLL, CRS.EXE, CRS32.REG, CLEANUP.REG and/or CLEANUP.exe" please let me know. I want to know what these files do, if anything!

I got this problem after I downloaded BarBack 5.0 from "Gratisware.com" and when I installed it, it made a BarBack directory and it also made a Gratisware directory and that's where the cleanup.exe is located. I deleted the cleanup.exe from the Gratisware directory and the crs32.reg from the Windows\system directory but it still gives me the error. If you go to www.gratisware.com, you'll find such things as Dr Goo (mentionned in message 28 & others), 3D Asteroid Impact (mentioned in message 26). So I think that there's where the problem starts. When I'm online, every now and again a box pops up and I think that that's how gratisware works when you run the programs from their site without registering. If that's the problem, I hope that someone out there knows how to get rid of this crap and post it here.

Argh - I hate it when the CRS32.DLL error closes my IE5 session!!

I agree that Gratisware is causing the problem, because I d/l'd a diskexplorer program from TUCOWS, however, during the first part of the install, I saw a screen flash from Gratisware.

My gut tells me what Gratisware is trying to do, is to display a popup window that advertises their site, however, the code they used seems faulty. If anyone knows how to get ahold of them, I would like to know. They do have a comment address at

I may have been premature. Gratisware does have an un-install page now, which I didn't find a week ago. I have run it and so far so good, however, since this CRS32.DLL crash seems to be random, I'm not positive yet, but its been working so far...

to all the folks who have the same problem like I had, thanks to a lot of useful info on this forum I could fix it.
The easiest way; start up in dos mode and go to the system directory, Del rcs*.* and ENTER, after this command the 4 crazy files are gone! A pretty good program to use after install and uninstall progs is ADregcleaner from NIT this can show you all the invalid keys in your registry and you can delete by this way. Very useful is the Reg Cleaner from Jouni Viounio after try out software like I do.
Hard to find good progs? mail me free!

I have had the crs32 invalid page fault problem that several people have reported. As a result I have attempted to follow the fix steps described by several people. Now when I run ie 5.1 it does nothing the window opens but the program no longer operates.

Therefore can anyone give me the manual uninstall of ie 5.x so that I can restart with a clean installation. As I'm also having problems with Content Advisor and never having set up content advisor do not know the password and cannot stop those problems I know the answer to this is some edit of the registry but do not know the specific ones if anyone does please advise.

Personally I would give up on Internet Explorer and now wish to only use it to do Microsoft automatic upgrades which can only be d/l by ie. Netscape will not d/l them. Grrrrrrrrr

Thanks for any help!

Been having problems opening pages in Explorer... Kept getting error message Iexplor caused an invalid page fault in module CRS32.DLL. I tried re-installing windows but didn`t solve the problem. I then decided to try and figure it out myself.
Evidently CRS32.dll is not a windows file but is put there by some other application, so I did a search and found it hidden in Windows/System directory. I tried to delete it but was told I couldn`t cause windows was using it (which implied that there was a Registry entry somewhere) so I did a search in the registry, found it and deleted the entry. I then rebooted, found the file in windows again and I was allowed to delete it. PROBLEM SOLVED!! I`ve not had a single CRS32.LL error message since. I don`t know which program installed this file but all my applications still seem to work okay.
Warning!!! Don`t mess around with the registry unless you know what your`e doing...I didn`t! but I enjoy solving PC problems and If I`d messed up it wouldn`t have caused me too much hassle... Hope this information helps you all.

That's funny! Scrolled down this whole page, and the very last person, #53, is the only one with the same problem as I. EXPLORER caused invaled page fault in module MFC42.DLL Of course it also said the same thing about WININET.DLL and KERNEL32.DLL earlier in the day. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I"m using a compaq computer. i'm not that pretty sure that all the system config are the same. Anyway, i tried to run "msconfig" then i tried to unchecked everything on "Config.sys" and "Autoexece. bat" .well, to get the most and best solution out of this events, i think you should upgrade with the new version browser.
