Every time I use the mouse to click on a cell in Excel 2000, click again to make the flashing typing cursor appear to make changes to a cell, click on another cell it performs an illegal operation:

It gets very fustrating, especially if I haven't saved the changes!
I had to install Norton Crash Gaurd to let me save even if it crashes. But I am beginning to get sick of these Norton popups!
Yes I have reinstalled Office 2000, in fact I reinstalled Win98 and Excel 2000 still crashes when I double click a cell then click on another cell.
Any suggestions to help me would be very appreciated!!

When you said you reinstalled 98, Did you FDISK then FORMAT your hard drive ? Simply reinstalling 98 over your existing 98 operating system WON'T do it for you. And when you reinstalled Office 2000, Did you remove it through Control Panel > Add/Remove programs or did you manually delete it through Windows explorer. If you just deleted the file itself through explorer, That WILL NOT FIX your problem. When removing applications, ALWAYS USE ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in Control Panel, or use the uninstall option. Good Luck !

To answer your questions, yes, I have used FDISK then Format the hard drive and yes, I have used the add/remove programs. This still doesn't solve the problem!
