I'm having problems with my ethernet. The 10/100 PCI Ethernet Adapter in the system devices says:
"You must enable the device in the BIOS.(Code 29) See your hardware documentation for details, or contact your computer manufacturer to get an updated BIOS."It also says something about there's no interupt request. I have no idea what to do. It was working fine before until someone messed with it.
HP told me to reset the defaults in the BIOS, but that didn't work either.

Go into bios and look for a reference to the onboard networking. Ensure that it is set to enabled.
Next boot to windows, then go to device manager (right click 'my computer' and select properties) look for any yellow or red highlights. Check that the device is listed under network adaptors.
Post back with what you find.

The error messages indicates that windows is looking for an onboard ethernet adaptor. If you do not have one (and you did say PCI) then the message along with the advice given to you by HP is invalid.
Once again, I'll ask you to look in device manager. It is often useful to remove the reference to the device (in this case the network card) and reboot. Windiows will find a new device and try to install the drivers. Be aware that it will ask you for the Windows CD and or the driver disk supplied withthe card.
If windows does ot notice the card, try connecting it to the network and reboot.

I removed the device and rebooted. When it asked for the driver disk I put it in. Then it asked for the Windows disk and I put that in, but it said it couldn't find any of the files on the CD.

You might have to hunt around for these files. They should be in the win 98 folder on the CD. I don't have my 98 CD at the moment, but they may also be in the drivers folder.
