Ethernet Card not Detected

I recently installed an Artisoft LANtastic AE-3 ethernet card on my computer and Windows 98 didn't detect it when I ran the add new hardware wizard. So i installed the drivers manually and when i rebooted windows said the card was not responding. If anyone knows what the problem could be, i would really appreciate your thoughts.

GO to your device manager and look for a category call other devices (usually in yellow). If so click on it and delete any references to the NIC card. Also look in a category called Network Adapters and delete all references to the NIC cards.
Reboot the PC and let Windows detect it, if it can not than have your driver disks ready.
Also a lot of these cards are NE2000 compatible so you might try adding a NIC device as NE2000...

There is also the possibility that the card could be bad. I just installed new NIC's in my PC's and one was bad. I had to send the whole kit back because of the one card and a new kit is supposed to be on the way. Have you tried the card in a diffenent slot or a diffent system?
