Comment:

I just finished fdisk and reformat and am having problems installing the OS. I keep getting different errors when the PC is scanning and checking the file structures, etc.
I can't remember the exact errors (I should've written them down) but I can't seem to get by that stage to re-install windows, although I actually installed windows once but it would'nt reboot to the point where I could install my progs, etc.
I know this is vague, but any suggestions? Thanks

Thanks for the info, but do you know how to cure this? I don't quite understand it.
Thanks

Funny thing is, I opened the case and reset the HD ribbon and windows seems to be loading....weird. I'm just wondering if the HD is going out?
I must've fdisked and formatted it at least 6 times.

Often it's just bad or poorly seated RAM - although if the IDE cable wasn't snug that may well have been it

The contacts on connectors can sometimes oxidize and cause poor connectivity. Reseating them can 'sometimes' clean off the oxidation and restore a good connection.

You did not say whether you were able to see the C: drive after formating it.

Do not Transfer the System with the Format. ( When I did that, I was unable to install the new OS ). Then use a bootable Floppy or Bootable CD to install the OS

Don't Think That's the Problem - regardless, seems to have been solved (days ago)
