I've been experiencing a very frustrating glitch for over a year. I have Internet Explorer 6.0 with Service Pack 1. When I try to click on certain links on a webpage, like when I tried to click on "checkout" the other night, I couldn't complete the buy transaction; nothing happened and I got another of the "Error on page" messages I frequently get. I think it has something to do with javascript, but I don't know what javascript is. I've search the Microsoft IE site and can't find anything that specifically says or addresses "Error on page." Sometimes I get the "Done, but with errors" message but I can usually connect to the link with that one. It's the "Error on page" one that freaks me. What is this?

Are you by any chance running a pop-up killer program that scans pages before sending them to your browser?
How about ZoneAlarm?
If you are, the program may be removing some javascript code that is needed by that page.
If the above is not the case, have you tried downloading Java VM from here:
http://www.java.com/en/index.jspor here:
http://www.windows-help.net/WindowsXP/howto-21.html
Other options:Go to Start>Run, and key in each of the following lines separately, followed by clicking OK:
regsvr32 Oleaut32.dll
regsvr32 Actxprxy.dll
regsvr32 Mshtml.dll
regsvr32 Urlmon.dll
regsvr32 Shdocvw.dll
regsvr32 Shell32.dllAfter each line, and clicking OK, a dialog box notifies that the dll has been registered successfully.
After registering all dlls, reboot.
There is also a housekeeping task often suggested to resolve a variety of problems. Clean up the IE primary folders (Temporary Internet Files, History, Cookies) in DOS as follows:Start>Shutdown>Restart in MS-DOS mode
At the Command prompt, key in the following lines: (Press Enter after each entry.)
cd\
cd windows
smartdrv
deltree tempor~1
deltree history
deltree cookiesConfirm any folder deletion prompt with: Y (for Yes).
When done, Control/Alt/Delete to Reboot and return to Windows.

Thanks very much for your replies. Very helpful. No, I don't have call forwarding, but YES, I do have Pop-Up Stopper and have had it for about a year -- about when the "Error on Page" saga began. I'm going to delete it from my system. And I'm going to follow your advice about downloading the JAVA VM site you gave me. I really appreciate your prompt and responsive replies to my dilemma. Ellen

After you get everything going, you can get popOops popup stopper free at webattack.com You donot have to configure it, and it works well. I have 98se, and have no trouble.

Let us know how it goes.
Your approach seems good.
The other housekeeping suggestions in response #2 may also not be a bad idea.
