i get this problem frequently:
when i turn on my PC after the windows 98 screen comes up sceen goes blank and message comes out of freqeuncy 720 *600/70hz
HF 15.8
VF 57.5
in this the HF range starts from 30 and vf reccomended range is 50 to 70.
i have P4 2.4 ghz,256mb ram and S3 prosavage ddr display.
when i uninstall the s3 driver and reinstall it the problem gets corrected but it again starts in few days.
how can i correct it.can changing the refresh rate to 60Hz correct the problem.how can i change the monitor refresh rate and HF and VF freq.

Most moniters have a OSD Menu (OSD=on screen dispaly)to change settings.

In addition to the advice already given:

If you go to Control Panel/Display/Settings/Advanced button/Adapter tab, you will find refresh settings option. Optimal or 60 might be worth a try.
