A friends computer has been freezing with the following error message:An exception OE has occurred at 0028:C00019C9 in VxD VMM (01) + 000009C9. This was called from 0028:C004E1AA in VxD VCACHE (01) + 00000BD2. It may be possible to continue normally.

He has a 900 T-Bird on a MSI motherboard with 128 MB of RAM and a 30 GB HD running W98. He has just recently added a Sony Burner and upgraded to IE 5.5.

Any ideas? I did a search and can't come up with that exact error number.

Thanks Smitty

Thanks, Jai for the link. I have gone there and so far haven't found the exact error so I am still digging around the site and other links there.

I am wondering if the B's burning software may be the culprit. I may tell him to uninstall it and see if that takes care of it. This problem happens when the computer is booting up.

there may be a problem with your registry, try reinstalling your Windows 98.

this is the final resort if you cannot run windows properly at all.

Well, installing Windows over itself isn't as painful as f-disking and formatting!!!!!

Thanks again

Smitty,

Possibly bad ram. If the 128M is 2 sticks trying using one at a time and see if the errors go away.

Try Ram from another PC.
