When I want to play an .avi file through Media Player Version 9, I get the message 'Error Loading Codec'. I have 'Download Codec Automatically' box checked in preferences. I'm using direct X version 7.1 as not wanting version 9 with older machine, etc. IE 6/on cable connection. I am not running a firewall or virus scan when trying this to prevent conflicts. Any suggestions?

I'm guessing it's divx encoded so you can download codecs and install them and that usually seems to do the trick. I've had that happen to me before and this fixed it. Goto: http://www.divx.com/divx/download/
That hopefully should work for you. Good luck.

In the same vein as the previous post it might need an xvid codec. It can be downloaded from: http://www.xvid.org/downloads.html Cheers
