Windows sometimes tells me my drive (I have 2 drives)is full when its not. I want to actually erase old files for real. I am into audio recording and the drive must be really empty not just appear so. Formatting works OK but is there a program that erases old files?

Ah! The dreaded recycle bin!

A simple fix for ya. Right click on your recycle bin icon. Choose properties. You can select to adjust the size of your recycle bin down OR you can diasable it by choosing the "Do not move file to recycle bin" option. I set the recycle bin on, but limit its size to ~60MB.
