Can someone tell me what to type into DOS/or do, to erase my hard drive? With my other computers I had a "recovery disc" that would erase and reinstall. This computer has none and three tech's have told me I need to reformat. I'm cheap and would rather do it myself if possible. Can anyone help?

Many thanks...chondra

boot with your win98 startup disk
choose cd-rom support, make sure it will
read the win98 cd ,if so proceed with
at a:format c: (press enter)
after format is complete hit enter for volume label ,leave blank ,makes it easier later.
change to cd-rom drive e:
type setup (press enter) win98 should now install.

Thank you, does this above information "clean my hard drive" or replace win 98 over the old copy?

I don't need to "erase" anything or does the CD do that for me?

Many thanks,
chondra

The format will erase your hard drive. Remember your CD drive will be "pushed up" one drive letter when you boot with the bootdisk. If it was E: before, it will be F: with the bootdisk. It will return to E: (or your original letter) when you boot normally.
