Epson Stylus on a Belkin USB to Centronics parallel port adapter not working.

Comment:
I've loaded the latest Epson driver (2.2FE), the Belkin USB software is the only version available (dated 3/19/98), and I didn't see any references to patches for Win98. Everything seems to configure ok. The plug & play feature knows about the Belkin & printer drivers. The symptoms are that the print manager window shows "Failed to open file", but it shows the printer as being ready & absolutely no activity on the printer. The Award CMOS (version v4.51PG) does not have an enable or disable switch for the USB. My next step is to contact the supplier of the PC (its a generic "AZZA" motherboard). Any ideas??????????????????? Thank you!

I have a 3 yr old Panasonic kxp-2130 that I want to work as my second printer on a Micron Millennia pentium 3 on win98. Micron advised me to get a USB Centronics to USB cable which I connected expecting instant success. Nothing happened except for a request for a driver disk. I put in the disk that came with the USB cable. It failed.

Hooked up a new Epson 660 to Belkin Parallel to USB cable to new Tyan Mother board. Everything looks o.k., print manager says "printing document", no go... please help! Epson site said something about USB printer drivers come with their USB/parallel kit... and they said no drivers available on web site, probably need their kit w/ software.

The problem is that the adaptor Belkin only works to send data to the printer and Epson is bi-directional. Read the manual for belkin, I found there that if you change the configuration to not bi-directional on properties you should be able to use the printer. In my case I cannot because the driver of my epson does not let me, so I would like to get a unidirectional driver. If someone has one or knows where to get one please let me know. Frakie...

My adapter is not Belkin and I even don't know what brand is it. I only know that is not working. Since the cable came without driver, I asked for it. They gave me one disk conteining several usb.dll files but although following the instruction, it doesn't work. My printer is an Epson Stylus Color 600. I can't use LPT1 port for printing because of the direct cable connection always busy.

I have an Entrega type converter, having similiar problems. You do have to disable the bi directional from everything I have found. You can go to find and type in the ini file that you need. If anyone has information please forward it to me so that I may fix this soon

Select printer properties, details and select the 'USBLPT1' port. Its not bidir. but it works for me. The port that was to be installed from the floppy with the cable cannot be installed. Its not bidir. but it prints with the error box present. Do not click on the error box until the printing has completed.
