Comment:

When I start up my computer, it displays a
message stating that I am missing a file
called "emagic.386" and that my system.ini
relies on that file and that some applications rely on that file.
Any help would be great.

Are you sure it isn't EMM386.exe. Did you recently uninstall something?

I have a compaq presario and am having a problem installing my copy of Emagic. The 386 driver problem also remains, even after I have taken out the file from the system file.
What can I do. This is a bloody 900 dollar program!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm having a similar problem with my machine not finding emagic.386 even after running the setup for Logic Audio a number of times. I don;t have a solution but I can tell any of you that are actually trying to get an Emagic program running that deleting any reference to emagic.386 will not help. This will only help if you have uninstalled an Emagic program and are sick of seeing the error message come up.

So is there any change to send this emagic.386 file via email? I formatted my HD, and after I re-installed Logic Audio, that 386 file wasn't there any more. Or do you know any places to download the file?
Thanx

Bloody hell, seems like nobody is having luck with this. Well, I'm sick of seeing the same question/ problem reiterated over and over again without help.. I'm here to offer salvation.

Ok, I'd wager that 99% of you actually have emagic.386 on your system (in your windows\system folder.. make sure you make hidden files visible in the options). When you find it, *copy it* to your main windows folder AND make sure the line "device=emagic.386" (without the quotations) is in your system.ini file under the 386 enhanced section (scroll down, you'll see it). If you're not savy with computers, just use the "find file" function in your start menu to find system.ini and open it from that interface.

Restart computer and cross your fingers.

You might get some error messages at startup, but just click ok.

The emagic.386 file is a component of the little program "Miclogic", this is a tool, which can edit midi files. So delete the line "...=emagic.386" and there is no msg anymore.
