Does anyone own an eMachine that turns on by itself after you have definitely turned it off? What did you do to fix the problem?
I have tried changing Power Management in BIOS, removing Load Power Profile in the Startup group (msconfig) and made sure the monitor and hard disk are set to NEVER turn on in Screansaver Settings. Any sugestion?

try booting to safe mode... (tapping f5 on boot), and removing/reinstalling your floppy disk controllers, apm (advanced power management) devices and acpi devices under system devices, as well as any items in the other devices category, if it exists... on reboot, they will reinstall... that should take care of it... have fun...

I know all too well about your problem. Is there a really high pitched whine that you will hear stop ONLY after unplugging the computer in the back??? If so...your power supply is bad. I had about 12 333 and 336 class emachines that I had to swap out the power supply. Emachine should send you one out for free. The only other thing to try is look in the bios. There is a setting for auto-power on. You can disable that
