I want to buy new RAM for my Packard Bell. I went to www.crucial.com it said that for my type of machine I needed EDORAM non-parity.
I know that you can get 60ns and 70ns EDORAM but do not know what type is in at the moment. Does it matter? Can a pair of 60's and a pair of 70's run together?
Cheers

You most likely need 72-pin, 60ns, non-parity-type EDO RAM modules. They need to be installed in pairs. They also do not come as cheap as other types of RAM.

The Crucial site is among the best for determining what type of RAM your computer needs and the maximum amount it will support.

BTW, when RAM is rated by Nano-seconds (ie; cycle length), 60ns is faster than 70ns. Shorter cycle time means more cycles (hertz) per second.

FYI - there are part#'s on the dram chips themselves. If there is a "-6" on the end then it is 60ns. "-7" is 70ns. On 168-pin SDRAM, you will not see a "-6". Instead you will see "-10"=PC66, "-8"=PC100, "-7.5"=PC133, and the newest is "-7"=PC133 CL2 capable. The last 2 may also be used for PC66 and PC100 since they are backward compatible.
