i need to edit the user.dat file for a specific users profile to change the screen resolution to 800,600.

Can someone please tell me how to do this, ie. with what software will allow me to edit this file. I have tried with wordpad and edit from dos, but the changes do not take effect on the user, what am i doing wrong.

Can you get into safe mode in the other profile and change the resolution that way?

. . . or simply delete the video adapter in device manager so it defaults to a more readable resolution?

How do I get the machine to load into safe mode on that profile?

I haven't tried delting the video adaptop, surely if it was that, it would cause the problem on all profiels, and not just this one. Anyway, i can't see anything in that profile to delete the adapter.

Dean.

I haven't used multiple profiles so I'm really just guessing but if you use the F8 key to get to the boot menu, will choosing safe mode default to the same profile each time?
