I have upgraded to Windows 98. When trying to play music CD's on my Dyson CD-242E the system freezes. Only a hard re-boot will recover the system. The sound card divers are updated CMMI 8330 drivers which still don't seem to work. Any help would be appreciated.
I recently had problems with my Dysan CD-242e cd-rom drive, it wouldnt read certain cd's, I went through the whole series of troubleshooting but couldnt figure out WHY certain cd's would work and others would not, turns out that due to a problem with printing using a lexmark printer on my wife's PC I came across a fix for both her problem and mine.
because I had to re-install win98 a few weeks ago I used the win98 CD-ROM driver for my cd-rom drive instead of using the driver/installer that came with my cd-rom drive! so to fix my cd-rom problems I trashed the cd-rom that win98 picked for me and replaced it with the one that came with my drive, and everything is working fine now.
same thing with the lexmark printer that refused to print, I had installed the printer using the supplied driver from win98, there again the solution was to trash the printer from the printer folder and install the driver that comes with the printer and voila!!! go figure its Microsoft...

I have the same problem where the cd stops whilst running. Would appreciate it if Daniel could give me a copy of the orginal drivers for the Dysan cd-242e.

my wife complained that the dysan cd 242e just stopped playing and then tried to blame me. I cannot find the driver for the cd rom,is anyone willing to send me the driver for the sake of marital bliss

Please could someone send me the drivers for the Dysan CD-242E - my CD just will not work.

I too have a similar problem. I recently installed Windows 98 and later installed an HP 8250i CD-RW and since then, my CD-242E will only recognise copied discs (both data or music) as music CDs. It will still read originals both music and data. This applies to copied discs from other sources as well so I guess the problem is with the 242E. I too would apprecoate it it someone could send me the original drivers.

I have the same problem installing a CDRW HP-9100 on a PII with Windows 95l; It only recongnices audio CD(copied and original CDs).Could anybody help me???. Thanks

I am in much the same predicament i really need the drivers for the Dysan CD-242E cd-rom cause it wont pick up any cd's and i cant find the proper drivers anywhere can u help?! PLEASE
