I have an IBM Aptiva E6U PC with a hitachi GD2000 DVD/CDROM. The mpeg2 decoder is software driven. The drive works until I load my printer and or scanner and related software. IBM Tech support says one of my peripherals must be causing contention and reloading the DVD software usually works - but not in my case. They say that the drive will not be replaced because the drive works when I restore the software to the original Aptiva software (as when purchased). Does anyone have any idea how I can get this thing to co-exist with my other hardware? CDRom drive works - just DVD does not.

first of all, I too have an aptiva model number 2139E6U. In response to your question what I would do is add more VIDEO MEMORY. Since the e6u has only 4 syncgraphics memory add about 4mb of video memory for a total of 8mb.that should take care of that
