DVD driver not detected in labtop

Hi,
This morning, I swapped in dvd rom drive (SCSI drive) in my labtop. But my labtop did not detect dvd rom drive even after I restarted twice.
Do I have to configure anything?

You must have a DVD decoder and should enable
DMA mode in DVD drive settings.And ofcourse!
a player software.
