I would like to convert dvd's and avi(divx) files to vcd (mpeg1 i think). But when i do that it really takes a long time, sow i whas thinking, isn't there any software where you can resume your convertion after you paused it and even restarted your computer, any (free) software? And when i copy my mpeg 1 files to a cd will i be able to play it in a dvd player? Thanks anyway!!!

As far as I know, it's impossible to resume any type of video transition. So, just do what I do, set them up to convert with a program like tmpgenc and leave them on over night, or when at work. By the time you're back at the system they'll be done and ready for burning.
As for the dvd player, it will only work in some. VCD is not really standard on most dvd players (an old panasonic, ps2 dvd player, and my brothers new one all didn't work). You'll most likely want to look around for a dvd player that'll better suit you if yours doesn't play them correctly. I personally recommend the Apex 1100w player, as it's cheap and efficient.

EO Video is also rather simple to navigate with many options. if you get a faster machine (3ghz!). your movies will render at a considerably higher speed. also. DDR RAM, and lots of it. have fun.
