I'm booting with into dos prompt with a win98se bootdisk (hdd crashed/corrupted, need to access from usb hdd to do repair). I'm trying to access my usb Harddisk and/or usb Zip100 drive. I'm using Duse4.4 with only one parameter in config.sys.
DEVICE = A:\DUSE.exe INT
It worked ok with the Zip100 drive. The mobile harddisk, however, was detected, mounted, BUT never assigned a drive letter. I've tried it with different parameters but it didn't work.
I couldn't Scandisk or Chkdsk the usb hdd, but i could Fdisk it. And it confirms that there's a single working FAT32 Extended->Logical partition.
I've read most online forums but this problem is rare (where Duse states that the hdd is detected, mounted, but never assigned a drive letter).
Anyone please help. Thanks.

You may have to go into fdisk and redo it again then resart the computer with the disk in and the type FORMAT F: or whatever the drive letter is.

There are other DOS drivers available see:
