I am using a Packard Bell 486 with 24meg ram and a Pentium OverDrive processor. I am running Windows 98 also. My problem is that I installed a new USRobotics Winmodem INT and I keep getting disconnected. It keeps telling me that DSP Code could not be uploaded. Any suggestions?

Howdy, Well have you tried USR's web site. www.3com.com and check there FAQ's? Winmodems are software driven and to be honest they just plain suck. I would contact you're ISP as well and see what they have to say.

Laters,

Kevin The Tech Dude.

I have contacted usrobotics web site and talked to their service line for 1 hour earlier. They didn't know what was wrong and told me to send the modem back. I got a new one and it still has the same problems.
I also contacted my isp and they have never heard of it.

Yeah I have the same trouble with my US Robotics Sportster Winmodem 33.6

I keep trying to play this game called "Asheron's Call" and I've been able to play only like 2-3 times. Each of those times, I was able to see part of my desktop and it was working. I have the free ISP thing from excite, and I could see their ad while playing the game and it worked fine, but as soon as the game starts loading, and I don't see it, I know that I'll get disconnected when I try to play. The game DOES load every time and gets me into the main menu EVERY time, but as soon as I try to play with a character and it needs to send some info back and forth between the server and the modem, the line disconnects and a message box appears that says:

Winmodem Error
DSP Code could not be uploaded

Error Cause #1

Same prob. Doesn't anyone know what this is about? I get mine to connect, and download the first page or two, then DSP could not be uploaded, Error cause #2, then when I try to reconnect, the modem is in use, or not recognized, and I have to reboot to reset everything.

I got a U.S.Robotics PCI WinModem model no. 2974 and have big trouble configuring it.
It got installed and responds to AT commands and when I queried the modem it worked fine on
COM3 using IRQ 9.But it did not detect a dialtone and also I could not change the country from
America to Asean version. When it finally did detect dialtone it dials the ISP,gets connected,
is assigned an IP and gets cut in <30 Secs. Both times the following error message poped up.

"The DSP code could not be uploaded.Error 1010 failure code #2"

The modem works fine on all my friends Pc's. One thing I noticed is that if I use my display
card without drivers at 16 colours it works fine but the moment I load my drivers for my nVidia
TNT Vanta ver.5.22 my modem behaves funnily. I downloaded the modem update utility offered
by 3com but no newer drivers are avaiable.I checked my phone line and the signal is strong .
I have Ami Bios on my 440 Zx motherboard that does not have an option to assign an IRQ for the
modem. I've changed PCI slots to get my modem to work on IRQ 9,10,11 but with no avail. My
display card takes IRQ 11 and USB gamepad takes IRQ 10 both of which is shared with the PCI
steering bus. No Matter what I try I get the same error message everytime. Please tell
me what the error message means and what could be done?
