Everytime I run spy-bot it finds DSO Exploit. I remove it but it comes right back. I've ran my virus software, adware, cwshredder, etc.. The only problems that i've really noticed are a lot of those ad boxes on top of pages don't load. When I go to certain websites I can't see anything but a red X. Then i'll go to the same website using Netscape and everything is fine. So i'm thinking or hoping that my IE problem is because of the dso exploit. Here is the exact dso exploit spy-bot finds

DSO Exploit: Data source object exploit (Registry change, nothing done)
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0\1004!=W=3

Also I run hijackthis and everything looks right except.

O21 - SSODL: lmzABhBOPUIJQ - {2A5B0DF7-80F1-A75D-1287-629E5EC389CD} - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RWPJP.DLL

I have searched all for RWPJP.Dll and haven't found a thing. I found 1 program but it only runs with xp and i'm using windows 98se. I delete rwpjp from hijackthis but it keeps coming back.

Any simple advice for this problem. I'm not familiar with the commands, safe mode, etc.. So is there a program that can get rid of these problems? Thanks

Hi, outerspace1!

If any of my onboard scanner/cleaner programs fails to correct a dangerous or recurrent malware, I head for the online scan at trendmicro.com (it's free!!). Malicious files are programmed to defeat many Windows-based (installed) applications, but TrendMicro's program consistantly and thoroughly removes the pests from OUTSIDE of the system -- they just don't see it coming, I guess...

It takes a while, and it loads some ActiveX files (which you can remove later, if you wish), but their service, updated constantly, has never failed to get me out of the toughest jams. I highly recommend this outstanding free defense to anyone suffering from yet another obnoxious cyber-attack.

On a separate note, the following is a reference concerning the DSO Exploit and Spybot which I happened to stumble across few weeks ago:

"DSO EXPLOIT IN SPYBOT

If all of your critical updates are installed, then you are protected against DSO Exploit, and its detection in Spybot just becomes a nuisance. Eliminate this aggravation by doing the following:

1 Open Spybot and select 'advanced' mode.

2 Select 'settings' in the left column.

3 Select 'ignore product' in the left column.

4 Select 'security' tab.

5 Place check mark in box beside DSO Exploit.

6 Close program

7 Open Spybot and run a scan.

You will find that DSO Exploit has been eliminated and, if your computer does not harbour any other spyware, you will see a congratulatory message."

Cheers!
