Here's another download site for the CR-588. I'm not sure what the difference is, but the files are a different size than the American site. And it actually lists theCR-588. http://www.panasonic.co.jp/corp/Download/cdromdriver_e.html

I get a error message no disk in drive, no matter what I do. I've reloaded driver. I've removed the drivers from the control panel system menu. The computer boots up recognizes the drive the light goes on then you put a disk in and the error comes up. Any one have any Ideas. I about to throw this thing out and buy a new one. Rick

Hi,
I am rather confused and would be grateful for some advice. I have a CR 588 32 speed Rom installed from 1998 and although I have a fast processor (600mhz), still find that there are a few slow downs during games which I think is attributed to the CD Rom.
Am I correct in saying that this is a relatively slow speed ROM?
Lots of magazines talk about quad speed Roms should be updated. Is this a quad speed ROM?? Or is it better???
