Drivers for cd-roms dont work in win98

My drivers I installed with the emergency boot disk in dos work in dos with the cd-roms but not in windows 98 and when i start win98 everytime it says restart computer to update settings or do it later it does that every time and if i do later it has no idea that i have cd-roms what do i do? -hold windows key + pause key to bring up system properties dialogue box. -click on device manager radio button on top -select CDROM and say 'remove' and confirm 'yes' restart your comp. windows must automatically recognise the cd, if not reinstall the drivers the manufacturer gave u.
if that too does not work, have the drive checked.

This is a guess because I'm a little confused by your post. I'm assuming from your post that win98 does not support your cdrom drive. That you installed the drivers on a floppy in config.sys and autoexec.bat and it works ok. If that's the case then you have to install those drivers in config.sys and autoexec.bat on the hard drive.

I went into device manager and I had a problem with my IDE controllers which happened since I emptyed my HD. I updated it and restarted my computer and my CD rom's work fine. Thanks Anyway for the support. Tim Wilson
