I have ordered a 98SE CD to replace WinME on my Dell. I've installed 98SE before, but only from Gateway recovery CD's. Will the new 98SE CD have drivers on it? If not, can I use a Gateway recovery CD to get the drivers it will need? Will appreciate any help. Thanks.

Windows 98SE contains most current drivers, but you may need to go to the recovery CD, or download from Gateway.com for some. Al

Unlikely the recovery CD will help u - I think they are just ghost images of system as new. Win98 is pretty good on drivers, but having said that, go to http://sisoftware.co.uk/sandra Download Sandra which will give you all the info u need on yr hardware. Collect all the drivers you need from the net, put 'em somewhere safe, and THEN re-install.

Running a Gateway recovery disc on a Dell? Yeah, that'll work.
Why not get the recovery disc from Dell or have them point you to the correct drivers on their site?

Think you guys have answered the questions. Thanks a lot, and I'll be happy to get 98SE back. Got stuck with ME when Dell quit shipping with 98SE. Waited a week or so too long to order the computer.
