Need a driver for Trident 9016x2/4 LT2 Rev 8
chipset on Quadtel TVGA video card. Is this card Win98 compatable? Will it drive a monitor at 1600x1200 pix? Can't find proper driver, will not display more than 16 colors.

The old TVGA9000 cards we had at work only had 256K RAM, and could not display more than 256 colors in 640X480. We had to dump them, and upgrade to cards with 1MEG RAM, at minimum.

If yours is the same as the ones we had, there's no way you'll get 1280 res, not even 800X600.

Correct, there is no way in a million years you will be able to get that kind of resolution out of a Trident 9000 anything
At the very least, upgrade to a trident 9440
preferably upgrade out of trident, into an ATI or a Matrox

Trident's own site reports the TVGA9000i drivers are found on the Win95/98 CD's.
I believe we're stuck with 256 @ 640X480

I used the driver from Trident's website. (The beta, listed under "extras" or "general" I think.) I could get 256 color and 800x600 colors no problem with the standard Win driver. After I installed the Beta driver, I had the option in my palette to change to 16 bit or 24 bit color. But for some reason, when I restart, the settings don't hold. There has to be a way to make it work, just don't know how! (BTW, my card is a 9000i, 512k RAM) Hope this helps someone. =)

I HAVE LOOKED FOR HOURS TO FIND THE CAB11 FILE REQUIRED FOR THE TRIDENT 9000I TO WORK WITH WIN98. MY SUGGESTION IS TO SKIP THE FILE THAT WINDOWS IS TRYING TO LOAD. IF THAT DOESNT WORK THEN DROP A TWENTY SPOT AND GET ANOUTHER VIDEO CARD WITH THE PROPER DRIVERS AND DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM TRIDENT IN THE FUTURE. P.S. IT IS TO BAD THAT MOST EVERYTHING IN THE COMPUTER INDUSTRY IS OBSOLETE IN SIX MONTHS, JUST BUY MORE, IS IT NOT THE AMERICAN WAY?

OOPS! THEY STEERED ME BACK TO MY WINDOWS 95/98 CD. SO IF THAT'T THE CASE JUST GO TO YOUR "CONTROL PANEL" DBLCLICK ON ADD NEW HARDWARE WHEN ASKED IF YOU WANT WINDOWS TO DETECT NON-PNP SELECT "DO NOT AUTODETECT I'LL SELECT IT FROM A LIST" CLICK NEXT, WHEN YOU SEE THE LIST OF MANUFACTURERS SCROLL THE LEFT COLUM TO "TRIDENT" AND THEN SELECT "TRIDENT SUPER VGA", CLICK NEXT AND VOILA! YOU'LL HAVE TO RESTART BEFORE THE CHANGES TAKE EFFECT. AND DONT FORGET TO CHECK YOUR DEVICE MANAGER TO CONFIRM THAT ALL IS WELL. IF YOU REMOVE THE EXISTING DISPLAY ADAPTER DRIVERS FROM THE DEVICE MANAGER BEFORE YOU START THINGS SHOULD GO SMOOTHLY. REMEMBER, THESE ARE OLD CARDS AND THEY ARE VERY LIMITED RE: THEIR ABILITY TO DELIVER HIGH RES HIGH COLOR OUTPUT. BUT I GUESS IF YOU HAD THE FIFTY BUCKS FOR ANOTHER CARD YOU WOULDN'T BE LOOKING FOR THE DRIVERS.

AGAIN BEST OF LUCK!

I have a TVGA9000B 256k and I can't get anymore than 16 colours. I'm running win98 and I've tried lots of different drivers but none seem to help.

Anyone know why? (I know 4 sure that the monitor can get at least 256.)

Forget it Pal's there's no SVGA drivers for the Trident 9000 series cards in Win95/98. 256 is the best your going to get I have looked and let me tell you I looked again. Here's a addy to go to to find out. I was very very unhappy to see what I saw.
