Doubleclick

Comment:
I used ad-aware just to see if my comp has any spyware. I found some aureate, which I deleted, and a file called doubleclick. Now I've heard many "Net-scaries" about ad-aware causing systems to crash if you delete the wrong thing, so I'm hesitant about this one.

Veronica, It's safe to delete as it's only a cookie that will reappear all the time unless you put it in your "Restricted Sites". Tools/Internet Options/Security tab. Click on the "Restricted Sites" icon, click the "Sites" button and in the "Add this website to the zone", type in *.doubleclick.com click "OK", go back and type *.doubleclick.net click "OK". if you do this the doubleclick cookies won't appear any more. Hope this helps.

Another thing, this site uses doubleclick for a sponsor. Watch the bottom of your browser, when the pages load.

IE 6.0 is out now. Download it, you will find several options to customize for acceptance of cookies in each sites. if u have IE 6, u don't even need any ad-aware program. Good luck.
Summary: Has anyone found a way to get rid of seeing pesky sites (Doubleclick, Adsearch, etc., etc.,) from loading in about every page on the net? I have installed Zonealarm, Naviscope, Nukenabber, batch files...
