Subject: Dos/Win95 won't recognize my cd-rom drive
Comment:

I recently went the installation of windows 95 from another computer. I made the boot disk, ran fdisk.exe, and formatted the hard drives. I copied all of the files from the boot disk to the hard drive, and now when I try to run the cd to install the OS, it won't recognize the drive. There is no letter assigned to the drive, or anything. I need help! How do I get dos to recognize my cdrom?

Does the boot disk have cdrom support? Just use it to load the operating system. If it doesn't have cdrom support goto www.bootdisk.com and download a bootdisk with cdrom support. Good luck

When your computer first boots up do you see the computer recognizing your CD? If so then it probably needs a device driver to be seen in DOS. If not then you either have the slave jumper not set, a loose cable, or the drive isn't any good.
