Subject: Dos/Win95 won't recognize my cd-rom drive |
Comment: I recently went the installation of windows 95 from another computer. I made the boot disk, ran fdisk.exe, and formatted the hard drives. I copied all of the files from the boot disk to the hard drive, and now when I try to run the cd to install the OS, it won't recognize the drive. There is no letter assigned to the drive, or anything. I need help! How do I get dos to recognize my cdrom?

Reply: (edit)Does the boot disk have cdrom support? Just use it to load the operating system. If it doesn't have cdrom support goto www.bootdisk.com and download a bootdisk with cdrom support. Good luck

Reply: (edit)When your computer first boots up do you see the computer recognizing your CD? If so then it probably needs a device driver to be seen in DOS. If not then you either have the slave jumper not set, a loose cable, or the drive isn't any good.
