im missing this file does anyone have it? i use win 95.

This file is used when you re-start in dos mode. If there are any drivers, etc. (ex; sound card parameters) that would be "required", this is the file to load them with. You can create it, even if it's an empty file. If you're getting an "error" because it's missing, create an empty file; c:\windows\dosstart.bat.

dosstart.bat it is usually created if you install dosdrivers for soundcard and/or cdrom. That is: if the dos setup program is created by a decent programmer, like for instance on a philips yamaha soundcard cdrom. Don't be affraid to install dos drivers. Make a copy of autoexec.bat and config.sys before installing. After installing you can copy the added commands for later use and put back the stored copies. Usually dos drivers are in a folder like win31/dos.
