Dos prompt booting first help!

I've got a computer always booting up to the dos prompt and can't figure out how to get windows booted
boot to c: insert a win98se system floppy. type in a:\fdisk/mbr that command will repair the master boot record. www.bootdisk.com if you need win98se system floppy

Did windows start up by typing 'win'? If so it's an easy fix to have it go to windows on boot up. But first we need to know if typing 'win' worked.
