DOS not spooling print jobs

We have a pentium running Win95. We had to change our printer, and found that it was printing junk characters. As advised by someone, IBM Genigraphics was installed as default printer. From that time onwards, no DOS print job is spooled: If a long print job is fired under DOS, it is a single user system, as control is returned only when the print job is finished. Tried removing all the drivers and reloading EPSON EX-1000, to no avail. ( This was what was done before loading IBM Genigraphics: remove all printer drivers and then load IBM). I suspect 1) IBM Genigraphics; 2) removeing all printers.
I hope this helps you. I recently had the same problem with printing from DOS programs to an old IBM printer. What I did was first remove all the old printers that were present and added a new one with most recent drivers available for an IBM printer. I'm not sure what our model was anymore, that was a week ago for me but anyways try that and I also noted once that some of the Epson drivers do work for the IBM dot matrix printers but you would be better off having the correct driver for the exact model you are using.

I don't know if I am replying to myself or to Bryan. Anyway, thanks a lot, Bryan ; but I did load the correct driver for EPSON EX-1000, which is the current printer. NoGo
I am having this SAME problem. spool MS-DOS IS checked. And also tried uninstalling and reinstalling printer to no avail. The weird part is that the computer has been spooling jobs for 3 years. Now all the sudden with NO changes in hardware or software it won't spool. Someone please help?!
